Bacon Cheddar Sausage Dip Bread Bowls

This is the kind of appetizer that takes over the snack table and never lets go. The sausage brings the smoky-bacon, sharp-cheddar punch right into the dip — no extra bacon needed.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Bacon Cheddar Sausage diced small
  • 4 small sourdough bread bowls or 1 large round
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 11/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 green onions sliced (divided)
  • Crackers or fresh-cut veggies for dipping

Instructions

  • Hollow out the bowls. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Cut the tops off the bread bowls and pull out the insides, tearing them into bite-sized pieces — those go on the dipping platter later.
  • Make the dip base. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, 1 cup of the cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  • Fold in the good stuff. Stir in the diced sausage and half the green onions.
  • Fill and top. Spoon the dip into the bread bowls, mounding it slightly. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar over the tops.
  • Bake. Set the bowls on a sheet pan and bake 18–22 minutes, until the dip is bubbly and the cheese on top is golden.
  • Serve hot. Scatter the remaining green onions over the top. Surround with the torn bread, crackers, and veggies. Dig in while it's hot.
